There are many Bible verses that extol the value of a serious study of God's Word. For instance, the Psalmist wrote, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." (Psalm 119:11). The apostle Paul exhorted, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (II Timothy 2:15). Since it is by God's Word that we shall be judged (John 12:48), it is imperative to our eternal welfare that we carefully examine it and apply it to our lives.
